Artist Statement

"In my studio I like to potter about. To do a little here, make a cup of tea, change a little there. The sofa is a vital tool. Serendipity plays a significant role; surprising finds leading to unthought of juxtapositions. I like deadlines to devise projects for specific spaces. I work in different ways, with different materials and different series.

Abstract Heads, Capvespres, View from the Mies Pavillion, Groundworks. These are my artistic offspring. I love them equally, but I love to see them develop, to grow individually, to become independent. I wish I had more time to nurture them, and more opportunities to show them off proudly. I hope one day they will change the world."

JD Holden, June 2014
